Ex-con nabbed for robbery

ALEXANDRA – Ex-con back in court with pal for armed robbery.

Two suspects in an armed robbery were remanded in custody by the Alex Magistrates’ Court pending further investigation.

They were arrested in connection with a robbery at a home in 13th Avenue on 22 January.

When they arrived at the house they knocked on the door while calling the name of one of the residents. His brother who was inside the house told them that he wasn’t there but the suspect insisted that he opens the door. When he did, the suspect pointed to a gun tucked in his belt and forced his way into the house with his accomplice.

Once inside, they ransacked the place and stuffed a play station and controller, speakers and cellphones into a bag. They also took R120 from the victim’s pockets before taking the house keys and fleeing. The police arrested one of the suspects on the same day. His accomplice was arrested on 6 February while selling the play station controller at a Cash Converters’ branch in Balfour.
