Alex police officers had a busy week from 7 to 13 August with 76 suspected criminals arrested, 23 priority crimes and 66 other crimes reported.
According to the spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Captain Allie Kodisang, the arrests were as follows:
- 1 for murder
- 2 for rape
- 1 for sexual assault
- 18 for common assault
- 9 for assault with intention to cause grievous bodily harm
- 5 for robbery aggravating
- 1 for common robbery
- 2 for business robbery
- 1 for residential burglary
- for general theft
- 4 for malicious damage to property
- 3 for fraud
- 5 for possession of suspected stolen property and motor vehicle
- 6 drug related crimes
- 13 for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Priority crimes reported were as follows:
- 1 for murder
- 3 for rape
- 5 for theft of motor vehicle
- 6 for residential burglary
- 1 for business burglary
- 1 for business robbery
- 1 for house robbery
- 1 for motor vehicle hijacking
- 4 for robbery with fire arm.
Other reported crimes were as follows:
- 2 for attempted murder
- 2 for sexual assault
- 6 for assault with intention to cause grievous bodily harm
- 20 for common assault
- 2 for robbery with other form of weapon
- 3 for common robbery
- 4 for theft from motor vehicle
- 13 for malicious damage to property
- 12 for general theft
- 3 for fraud.
