JRA announces managing director’s resignation

JOHANNESBURG – The Johannesburg Roads Agency yesterday announced the resignation its managing director, Dr Sean Phillips, with effect from 8 August.

 

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has confirmed the resignation of its managing director Dr Sean Phillips with effect from 8 August.

The executive management and board of the roads agency expressed their appreciation for Phillips’ leadership and contribution since he was appointed on 1 May 2016. They described Phillips as an exceptional civil engineering professional with strong performance monitoring and evaluation experience at national and municipal levels as well as operational management expertise within local roads authorities.

Board chairperson Sipho Tshabalala said, “Regrettably, the JRA accepted the resignation of Dr Phillips. His focus on organisational performance and improvements to service delivery have been widely acknowledged and his expertise in the development of operational systems and procedures have set a solid foundation for a performance-orientated organisation. The benefits of his contribution to the JRA will continue to be realised in years to come. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

The agency’s chief financial officer Goodwill Mbatha has been appointed as the acting managing director with immediate effect. The board will be advertising the position as soon as possible.
