Three get 12 years for robbery and illegal guns

ALEXANDRA – Three sentenced to 12 years for 2012 Midrand house robbery and gun possession.

 

Three Alex men who languished in custody for six years partly due to changing several legal representatives were each sentenced by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to 12 years for house robbery and illegal gun possession.

Nine years were for robbery and three for illegal gun possession.

An accomplice said to have been their driver was acquitted.

Magistrate Gideon Schneitler found Kau, Lengwati and Seema, guilty of the crime which occurred during the day in 2012 at a Midrand home. The accused parked a Toyota Avanza outside the home and the three forced their way into the house where they made the occupants lie face-down while demanding jewellery and money.

Neighbours who saw them entering the home, alerted the police who rushed to the scene. They first arrested the driver who they found in the vehicle before entering the house where they overpowered and arrested the accused. All stolen items were recovered.
