Two robbers remanded in custody by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court

ALEXANDRA – Robbers of elderly Rivonia pedestrian await might of the law.

 

Two suspected robbers who were found in possession of an illegal firearm were remanded in custody by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 19 July. They will reappear before Magistrate Renier Boshoff on 24 July.

The suspects allegedly robbed an elderly complainant who they met in Rivonia at 7.30pm on 5 July as he was walking to his brother’s residence nearby. After asking him for directions, one of them produced a gun before they searched him. They stole his two cellphones and a charger before letting him go. Minutes later, police patrolling the area met and stopped the suspects who they found in possession of all of the victim’s stolen items.

The firearm had serial numbers on it.

The police found three other cellphones on the suspects which were suspected to have been stolen elsewhere. The victim identified the suspects at a police identity parade.
