Woman beaten by her boyfriend after a row over ‘rotten’ food

ALEXANDRA – Two injured in food fights.

 

Alex police are investigating two incidents of alleged assault due to discord over food. In one case a woman was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend after a row over ‘rotten’ food and in another incident, a man was allegedly beaten by a roommate, also over food.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the police are investigating both incidents.

The first incident occurred at 9 pm on 22 June at an 8th Avenue home. A woman was preparing supper and couldn’t find the cooking oil and meat that had been in the fridge. She asked her boyfriend who said they should not keep rotten food in the fridge. She kept quiet and he took her clothes and threw it outside. When she retrieved the clothes, he allegedly assaulted her. She received medical treatment for facial injuries.

The following day at 10 pm, a man who stays in 6th Avenue was allegedly assaulted by a roommate who had asked him to prepare food. This was after he arrived home and found the suspect with his brother. As he prepared the food the suspect insulted him but he kept quiet. The suspect continued insulting him and allegedly bit him in the face causing facial injuries.

At the time of going to print no arrests had been made.
