Mother’s terrifying premonition

ALEXANDRA – Alex man charged with his girlfriend's murder.

A mother’s fears emerged in the Alex Magistrates’ Court on 12 June where a man stands accused of her 25-year-old daughter’s murder.

The accused, the daughter’s boyfriend, was remanded in custody pending further investigations.

The incident occurred at 9.30 pm on 5 May at the victim’s 4th Avenue home. Alex police officers, who had been called to Alex Clinic, found the victim’s body with a deep gash on the thigh.

It wasn’t specified who took her to the clinic, but the suspect was present.

The police then went with him to the deceased’s home and found blood on the floor, the bed and in a bucket. They asked the neighbours what had happened, but they said they hadn’t seen or heard anything.

The suspect, who had a wound on his leg, was asked about the death and his injury, and he allegedly failed to respond coherently. Police confiscated his phone for investigation and he was arrested.

At the crime scene, the mother claimed to the police that it was the first time she had met the boyfriend.

She further claimed to have pleaded with the deceased on several occasions to part ways with the suspect, whom she feared would one day kill her, after she noticed a shoulder injury which she suspected was inflicted by him. She also alleged that her granddaughter, the deceased’s child, once told her that her mother feared the suspect would kill her one day.

The accused has pleaded not guilty.
