Thabang Ngwenya (32) of Orange Farm was found at midnight on 24 April last year, with others in Tsutsumani sitting in an Isuzu bakkie reported stolen that same night in Orange Farm. He took the blame and his companions were acquitted.

The vehicle’s owner parked the bakkie in his yard before going to bed. Later, his tracking company woke him up to alert him that the vehicle was being driven outside its radius and heading towards Alexandra.

After he checked and found it missing, the company advised him to report it to the police immediately. The company’s guards found the vehicle parked on the side of the road in Tsutsumani with the accused and three others inside. Behind them was another vehicle said to have belonged to the companions.
