Entries for Sasol New Signatures Art Competition close on 30 June – enter now Jozi artists

JOBURG – The Sasol New Signatures competition is still looking for new artists in Jozi, but for a limited time only!

The Sasol New Signatures Competition, one of the longest running art competitions in South Africa, is still open for entries and young artists are encouraged to enter.

Entries for the competition opened earlier this year and will unfortunately close on 30 June – so there is not much time left.

The nationwide competition has been running for almost 30 years and looks to discover new talent.

Nandi Hilliard, gallery manager of the Association of Arts Pretoria explained, “It gives young artists a chance to exhibit and make their break into the industry. It’s a good stepping stone for artists even if they just make the top 10 finalists.”

Last year, the competition saw more than 500 artists from all over the country entering, with more than 100 of these entries from Johannesburg.

Hoping that the numbers would be just as good if not better this year, organisers of the competition encouraged artists of all mediums to enter. Artworks will be judged by regional judges under the guidance of national chairman of the competition, Pieter Binsbergen, before being judged at the finals.

“I look forward to seeing the magnitude of talent the competition will uncover this year. This is truly an amazing and exciting journey and I urge you all to enjoy the ‘visual arts road trip’ with us,” Binsbergen said.
