Parolee on Rivonia housebreaking charge

ALEXANDRA – Parolee remanded in custody for housebreaking.

A suspect from Alex charged for alleged housebreaking with the intention to commit a robbery was remanded in custody by the Alex Magistrates’ Court pending further investigation.

The suspect and an accomplice who is at large allegedly forced their way through an entrance gate of a Rivonia home at about 10am on 13 May.

A family member saw them come up the driveway and shouted at them asking what they wanted but they proceeded towards the house and allegedly forced entry by kicking down the door. They attacked the victim while threatening to shoot him but he didn’t see any gun. The victim fought back and his hand was injured apparently by a knife but he overpowered one of the suspects and the other one ran away. The suspect was arrested and found to have been on parole for an undisclosed offence.
