Hijackers in Alex promise victim his car back

ALEXANDRA – When he returned and opened the door, he felt a gun pressed against the back of his neck.

Alex police are looking for three alleged hijackers who apparently promised to give back the victim’s motor vehicle after they used it.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the incident occurred at about 10pm on 6 May. The victim from Bramley parked his VW Polo valued at R325 000 at a takeaway outlet on the corner of 4th and Alfred Nzo avenues. When he returned and opened the door, he felt a gun pressed against the back of his neck. As he turned around, he saw three suspects and the one with the gun allegedly slapped him in the face. The suspects allegedly forced him into the back seat of the vehicle with two sandwiching him and the other drove the vehicle.

They searched and took his cellphone and wallet which they returned when he asked for it but after taking his R450 in cash. They also told him that he would get the vehicle back after they had done their work. They dropped the victim on 20th Avenue, told him to run and fired a shot into the air. The vehicle which hasn’t been recovered had a tracker.

Meanwhile, another vehicle was hijacked earlier at about 3pm on the same day in Eastbank. The victim who was with his wife in a customer’s Mitsubishi Pajero was approached by three armed suspects at the entrance gate of his home. One suspect pointed a gun at him and ordered him out of the vehicle while his accomplice pulled out the man’s wife and ordered them to lie on the ground. The three got in and drove off in the vehicle valued at R70 000.
