CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA is fundraising in a somewhat unique way

If you have ever harboured ambitions of one day owning Nguni cows, then here is your chance of a lifetime to own some.
The Nguni cow is an icon of the South African countryside. In photographs and paintings in suburban lounges, they capture the idyll that city folk often yearn for, while in real life they provide wealth and status for their owners.
With their placid eyes and beautiful hides, Nguni cows have a reputation as a hardy breed and are much sought-after for their ability to survive in tough conditions and to repel disease.

You now have the chance to own an Nguni herd, thanks to a collaboration between MiWayLife, CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA and the fundraising dynamos known as The Cows. These organisations have come together to present a unique opportunity and from 1 May until 8 June, 25 Nguni cows plus grazing and feed for a year is up for grabs. During this time, The Cows will be raising awareness for the competition at various sporting events.

The Cows, which is a fundraising arm of the cancer foundation, started out as a group of eight friends armed with bright-eyed enthusiasm on a mission to raise funds for children with cancer after the passing of little Jessica Bain in 2008.
Now, nearly 10 years later and still going strong, their determination to raise funds for the cancer foundation is stronger than ever. For close on 40 years, CHOC has stood together to support children with cancer and their families.

The land required to keep the cattle and vet bills will also be paid for, for a period of one year. The cows are worth about R12 000 each, which means the overall value of the prize is in excess of R300 000.
