Sandton suspect allegedly dumps and burns lover’s body in bin, remanded in custody by Alex Magistrates’ Court

ALEXANDRA – Sandton suspect allegedly kills his lover and burns her body in a bin.

A male suspect was remanded in custody by Alex Magistrates’ Court on 5 May pending a formal bail application on 10 May for the alleged murder of his one-night lover at his Sandton workplace.

The suspect, a former gardener, committed the crime in early April.

He and the victim met at a Sandton-based casino and went to his place where he allegedly paid her R600 after they slept together.

They then went out and in the process the suspect claimed the victim accused him of having paid her only R400 which resulted in an argument. They parted ways with the man returning back to his place.

The suspect further alleged that the victim followed him to his place and asked for food which he gave her. Afterwards, she allegedly demanded an extra R1 000 claiming that the condom they used had torn and endangered her safety and health. The suspect claimed this infuriated him, leading to an alleged fight in which he picked up a hammer and repeatedly hit her on the head until she was motionless on his bloodied bed. When she would not wake up from the bed, the suspect claimed to have slept on the floor for two days with her motionless body on the bed.

When he returned from work on the third day, the body was allegedly smelling. He brought a bin into the room, dumped the body in it and pushed the bin to a rubbish collecting point.

He claimed to have checked the bin on the fourth day and when it was not emptied, he allegedly poured petrol in it to burn the body. He was seen by neighbours as he fled the scene and was identified by the police, leading to his arrest.
