Taxi driver wanted for rape of passenger in Marlboro

ALEXANDRA – Taxi driver wanted for raping passenger in his vehicle, behind a garage.

Alex Police are investigating the alleged rape of a woman by a taxi driver in his Toyota Avanza.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the incident occurred at the Sasol garage in Marlboro at about 6.30pm on 22 April.

The victim who was on her way home to Alex boarded the taxi at Pan Africa Mall. There was one other passenger who was dropped off on the way. The suspect then drove to the garage claiming he wanted to put in petrol. Afterwards, he drove and parked the vehicle behind the garage where he allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and told her that he wanted to have sex with her. When she refused, he allegedly throttled and forcibly undressed and raped her without a condom. During the ordeal, he apparently asked her to marry him and apologised to her for the incident.

The suspect then told the woman to get dressed before dropping her at her home.
