The State opposed bail and argued that the suspect allegedly knocked on the door of the victim’s room while she was with a friend and asked to talk to her. She stepped outside and he asked her to marry him and she claimed to have refused. This seemingly infuriated him and he slapped and dragged her screaming into his room and locked her inside while asking her why she declined his marriage proposal. He allegedly ordered her to undress and further assaulted her when she refused until she relented.

The suspect allegedly raped her several times while still asking her to marry him. He released her in the morning and she reported the matter to the police, leading to his arrest.

In reply the suspect claimed that they were lovers, the victim came to his room voluntarily and the sex they had for the third time was consensual.
