Randburg motorist robbed in Minerva school parking area

ALEXANDRA - Police investigate armed robbery at a school parking lot.

A Randburg motorist was robbed at gunpoint in a parking lot at Minerva Secondary School in Alexandra.

Alex police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang confirmed that the incident occurred at 10.50am on 22 March. He said the woman was seated in her car in the school’s parking lot. While she was calling a teacher to notify him that she had arrived at the school, she looked in the car’s rearview mirror and saw a man standing behind her vehicle.

As she got out of the vehicle to greet other teachers nearby, a shot was fired and the man she had seen behind her car, approached her and allegedly pointed a gun at her.

Kodisang said the suspect is said to have demanded the vehicle’s keys, the woman’s laptop, handbag and R300 in cash and fled on foot with the goods. The items were valued at R35 480, he said.
