Abide by road rules these Easter holidays, urges Metro police Chief Superintendent, Wayne Minnaar
FOURWAYS – Read what Metro police Chief Superintendent, Wayne Minnaar has to say about Easter holidays.
In a bid to reduce road carnage over the Easter weekend, Metro police Chief Superintendent, Wayne Minnaar wished to remind motorists to abide by the road rules during these holidays.
“We as the Metro police expect motorists to obey the rules of the road during these holidays. We expect [fewer] accidents and we expect motorists to exercise caution during this time,” Minnaar said.

He said it was important for motorists to:
- Stick to the speed limit
- Not to overtake on a solid line
- Not to overtake on a bend
- Not to overtake where the view is not clear
- Not to drink and drive
- To buckle up when driving
Look out for pedestrians, as half of the Easter accidents are pedestrian accidents.
“It is important for motorists to bear in mind that if you knock over a pedestrian, the pedestrian could die and the [motorist] will be charged with culpable homicide,” Minnaar added.
He urged motorist to drive safely, and anyone who did not abide by the rules of the road will be arrested.
Minnaar concluded by wishing everyone a wonderful festive Easter and to remain cautious and vigilant on the roads.
