LISTEN: Lack of police presence is a threat for our businesses – street vendor
JOBURG - Business owners threatened by anti-Zuma protesters.
While hundreds of South African’s hit the streets to voice out their concern about President Jacob Zuma, many shop owners near Luthuli House are on edge and fear for both their businesses and lives.
One shop owner who wishes to stay anonymous explained that the police have failed to protect them.
“[In previous marches] we have been looted [and] people smashed cars. We don’t know what will happen today,” she explained. She added that there was a lack of police presence around many shops and this caused many shop owners to fear for their safety.

Another business owner who also wished to be anonymous added that he was unhappy about the march as it meant that he wouldnt make as much money as he usually did.
In the mean time Minister of Communications, Ayanda Dlodlo has urged South Africans to protest peacefully.
