Ward 105 councillor Tefo Raphadu has undertaken to meet with the aggrieved chairperson of the Foundation for Special Needs and Youth Development

Ward 105 councillor Tefo Raphadu has committed himself to meet with Vusi Msomi, the chairperson of the Foundation for Special Needs and Youth Development which teaches sign language to special needs children at Skeen Primary School.

This follows a complaint from Msomi who accused Raphadu of allegedly failing in his duties as a councillor to assist members of the public when the need arose.

Msomi had wanted to set up a container in an open space in Ext 10 in Tsutsumani Village but his sponsors had wanted confirmation from the ward councillor that it was safe to do so and that the container would not be towed away by Metro police.

“I was inundated with a work at the time and never got around to dealing with his issues. I am going to meet with him and solve whatever the issues are with him,” said Raphadu, who had asked for Msomi’s number.

“I have spoken to Vusi and me and him will meet and find a solution to his issues,” Raphadu added.

But Msomi was not convinced about the sincerity of the councillor. “Raphadu initially laughed it off before telling [me] that he will deal with the issue in his own way.” Msomi also alleged that Raphadu accused him of taking the issue to the newspapers.
