Ex-domestic worker accused of theft in Morningside, nabbed in Krugersdorp, appears in Alex court
ALEXANDRA – Domestic worker who stole employer's items and disappeared is nabbed and granted bail by Alex court.
A former domestic worker who disappeared from work after allegedly stealing from her employer was nabbed while found cooking in a shack.
The suspect appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court and was granted R1 000 bail pending further investigation.
She worked at a Gallo Manor residence and disappeared on 1 November last year.
When her employers could not reach her by phone, they went home and found her room empty. They checked their house and found R25 000 in cash missing as well as R127 000 worth of jewellery, a polo handbag worth R43 000 and two iPads valued at R6 000 each.
The suspect was tracked down with the public’s help, and found with a man in the shack in Swaneville, Krugersdorp, where she was arrested.
None of the stolen items were recovered at the time.
