Woman retrieves stolen items after a brave move in Alex

ALEXANDRA – Brave woman chases thief and eventually recovers stolen items.

A suspect, accused of theft, was released with a warning by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending further investigation.

The 24-year-old suspect allegedly stole personal items from a victim’s room as she slept on 27 November last year. The victim forgot to lock the door to her room when she went to bed and when she woke at 4am, she saw the suspect in her room.

The intruder ran out after she screamed, but she chased him and returned after he disappeared. She found her four cellphones, shoes, clothes and a tablet missing and informed her friends of the incident.

At midday, a friend told her of a man selling items nearby and they went to him pretending to be prospective buyers only to find that some of the items on sale belonged to her.

The police were called to the scene and the suspect admitted to the theft and was arrested. The items were recovered.
