A suspect who was remanded in custody by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court will reappear in court on 23 March for the alleged aggravated robbery of a victim who was known to him.

The alleged incident happened at 9pm on 21 December last year at a Midrand-based liqour outlet called Homeboys Tavern.

Both the victim and suspect were waiting for the tavern to open when the accused asked to see the victim’s scooter helmet. Before the victim could show the helmet, the suspect allegedly grabbed it from the victim’s hands. When he asked for it back, the suspect allegedly refused and instead told the victim to give him R10. The victim gave the accused R20, however, the suspect allegedly refused to hand back the helmet. The victim then walked to his scooter and the suspect followed, allegedly produced a knife and threatened to stab him.

The suspect ran away when the victim screamed, however, he was arrested near the crime scene the following day. It is unclear whether or not the scooter helmet was recovered.

Details: 10111.
