Couple’s fight ends in theft

ALEXANDRA – Domestic violence victim finds belongings missing after reporting assault case to police.

A woman who went to report a case of assault against her husband at Alexandra Police Station returned to find her place burgled and some of her household items missing.

Alexandra Police Station’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said the victim claimed she was outside her 8th Avenue residence with her husband at 5.30pm on 5 February when an argument ensued and he allegedly assaulted her. The victim then ran into the house and locked herself in a room and then went to report the incident at the police station.

On her return, she found the door of her locked room broken and several items worth R22 000 were allegedly missing. The items included a fridge, clothing, a home theatre system, books, a decoder, cutlery, a TV, microwave, iron and a hair dryer.

Police are investigating the domestic violence allegation and theft.
