Orphans smile bright

SANDTON – Thuthuzela Community Home got the chance to spend time with 2016 Miss SA and the 2017 Miss SA finalists.

Cahi Dental & Prothodontic Practice, the official sponsors of Miss SA in collaboration with Cell C, Sun International and SIC productions welcomed 2016 Miss SA Ntando Kunene, the top 12 Miss SA 2017 finalists and guests to their open day Community Service Outreach Programme at their practice in Atholl Square on 22 February.

The practice has again chosen Thuthuzela Community Home/Orphanage in Alexandra as their charity this year. “It is just very heart-warming to see these children happy, especially, since they are in a position where they need a window of joy,” said Dr Norman Cahi.

“These children have not stopped smiling and laughing. This is our way of giving back to the community and helping these children to feel important. You know, a child that can’t smile needs love and care.”

Last year’s Miss SA, Ntando Kunene, arrived wearing her beautiful crown called Enhle (which is Zulu for beauty), and joined the top 12 Miss SA 2017 finalists in a tooth-brushathon, much to the delight of the orphans. “It’s just so nice to give back and see these children smile. It gives them a lot of joy and it’s very rewarding for us,” added Dr Chelsea Cahi.

“This has given us a chance to teach these young orphans about oral health in a safe and happy environment. And it makes me feel great that my staff are all on board. We’re doing this as our commitment as sponsors of Miss SA; we’re doing this in her honour,” Dr Norman Cahi concluded.
