Four lanes have been closed to traffic after a truck lost its load of chicken stock and sugar on the N3 in Alex.
There is about a 60 minute delay in traffic.
Spokesperson for Metro police, Wayne Minaar has confirmed that a number of people have helped themselves to sugar and chicken stock, “The area has now been secured and metro police officers are on the scene,” he said.
Minaar added that two lanes were now cleared and two open.
In an interview on Talk Radio 702, Edna Mamonyane, spokesperson of metro police urged motorists to use the R21 which would connect them to the N1. She was unable to confirm when the scene would be cleared.
Minaar was unable to confirm who the truck belonged to.
No arrests have been made.
Spokesperson for Emer-G-Med, Max Cohen confirmed that there were no injuries.
