Attempted murder suspect points to woman’s public indecency

ALEXANDRA – Woman who allegedly urinated in public leads to an attempted murder charge of her boyfriend.

A suspect was granted bail of R200 by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the attempted murder of a man.

The suspect, who was known to the victim, allegedly pushed the victim who fell and hit the back of his head on a roadside kerb. According to a doctor’s report, the man suffered severe head injuries.

The victim claimed that the two got into an altercation on 2 September last year when he and his girlfriend were walking from a night club and they met and asked the suspect for a cigarette. The suspect, who was in conversation with his friend, allegedly told the victim not to disturb their conversation. When the victim persisted and also accused the suspect of reacting to him violently in the past, the suspect allegedly pushed him hard resulting in his fall.

The suspect admitted to the altercation, but claimed it was after the victim had been angered by him reprimanding the girlfriend for urinating in public.

Also, he claimed that the victim was always in a state of stupor and unable to walk steadily due to heavy drinking, hence his easy fall and injury, which was not intentional.

The case continues.
