A house robbery suspect was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending further investigations.
With the help of neighbours, the suspect was allegedly subdued inside the Tsutsumani home he was trying to rob on 19 December last year. The victim, who was asleep, was awakened at about 2.30am by a noise coming from the front door padlock that was allegedly being broken by the suspect and his two accomplices.

While the victim was tiptoeing towards the door, the suspect and his accomplices had already broken into the house. He demanded to know what they were doing in his house but was allegedly stabbed in the chest by the suspect during a scuffle. The accomplices ran away.
The victim allegedly grabbed the knife-wielding suspect and held onto him while shouting for help. The neighbours, who had heard and responded to his cry for help, helped him to apprehend the suspect. The police were called and the suspect was detained at the Alexandra Police Station.
The case continues.
