Church donates shoes to 60 Alex orphans

ALEXANDRA – Pillay's Wynberg-based Elev8 Ministries also helps the jobless.

Sixty orphans of Ratang Bana Future for Children in Alexandra won’t have to go to school barefoot anymore.

This is thanks to the senior Pastor Nash Manyozo and the congregation of Elev8 Ministries in Wynberg  who donated shoes to the children.

Noel Pillay an associate pastor at Elev8 ministries said that one the aims of the church is to take care of the poor, the orphans and the unemployed. The church also runs a feeding scheme were lunch is served to the unemployed every Thursday and the church also assists in job placements were necessary.

Preaching before the handing out of the shoes, Pastor Nash Manyozo urged his congregation to donate to the poor. “Blessed is the hand that giveth than the one that receives,” Manyozo said.

Ratang Bana founder Ingrid Maredi took to the pulpit to thank the church, saying the shoes would protect the orphaned children’s feet when they went to school. “From now on, these children will look and be dressed like all other children who have all the care of their loving parents, and I cannot emphasise our gratitude enough for the gesture shown today,” she said.
