Taxi driver robbed

ALEXANDRA – Armed robbers allegedly take R17 000 from taxi driver's socks.

A taxi driver in a Toyota Avanza was allegedly robbed of R17 400 in cash by three armed suspects who boarded his vehicle after pointing a firearm at him.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said the incident involving three wanted suspects, happened at 8am on 18 December on an unspecified street. The taxi was headed towards Pan Africa Mall.

While the vehicle was stationary, one of the suspects allegedly slapped the driver before searching him and stealing R400 and a cellphone from his pockets.

They searched him further and stole R17 000 from his socks. All stolen items were valued at R18 200.
