Alex was recently saddened by the death of a disabled teenage girl whose permanent smile and affable character brought many residents together.
Born disabled, Ephinia Rabekani (18) spent all her life bedridden in her Ext 7 residence under the care of her single mother before sadly passing away on 30 November.

She was laid to rest at Waterval Cemetery in Midrand on 4 December last year.
Ephinia’s plight, reported several times in Alex News, touched the hearts of many people who contributed to her lavish 18th birthday celebration in March last year at the Phuthaditjaba Community Centre.

Notable leaders, businesses, charitable organisations and churches, as well as philanthropist Linda Twala and the God Never Fails Ministries, made her birthday special through their contributions and later in September, donated a brand-new house to her family.
The day she died, her mother Peggy Rabekani realised that something was wrong with her daughter when she experienced shortness of breath.
The bereaved mother said she does not know how her life will be without her best friend, who she has sacrificed everything for.
