Police continue to clamp down on crime in CBD

JOBURG – Suspect nabbed for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Johannesburg Central Police officers arrested a 30-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on the corner of Plein and Wanderers streets on 10 December.

According to Joburg Central police spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele, police were busy with routine crime prevention duties when they spotted a suspicious man carrying a plastic bag.

They stopped and searched him and recovered a firearm with no serial number and live rounds.

The suspect will appear in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
