More boys born on New Year’s Day in Gauteng

GAUTENG - Gauteng Health MEC has congratulated the 284 mothers who delivered babies on New Year’s Day across the province.

About 284 babies were born on New Year’s Day at various facilities in the province. The department also highlighted that with about 98 percent of their figures confirmed, more boys were born on New Year ’s Day. Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu reiterate that mothers should take care of their babies.

“We are very pleased to have delivered about 284 babies (131 girls and 153 boys), we wish them a long and healthy life.”
Mahlangu also took the opportunity to thank all the employees for ensuring that the delivery of quality healthcare in the province is maintained during the festive season especially on public holidays.

Q Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital delivered 10 babies, seven girls and three boys.

Q Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital delivered 54 babies – 30 girls and 24 boys. One set of twins and triplets. The first baby in Gauteng was born at 00:01 at this hospital.
Q Tembisa Tertiary Hospital delivered 22 babies, nine girls and 16 boys.
Q Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital delivered 26 babies 12 girls and 14 boys.
Q George Mukhari Academic Hospital delivered 25 babies, nine girls and 16 boys. One set of twins. Second baby in Gauteng born at 00:02 at this hospital.

Q Thelle Mogoerane Hospital delivered 21 babies- 10 girls and 11 Boys.

Q Jubilee Hospital delivered 13 babies- five girls and eight boys.

Q Leratong Hospital delivered 12 babies- six girls and six boys.

Q Kalafong Tertiary Hospital delivered nine babies- five girls and four boys.
