Three men murdered in Alex

ALEXANDRA – Three men murdered in a week, with two on the same day in Alex.

Alex police are investigating the murder of three male victims in the township in the first week of November this year.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson, Captain Allie Kodisang said police were alerted to a male victim of unknown age who they found dead on Alfred Nzo Avenue in Extension 9 at 5.45pm on 2 November. The unknown victim, who was dressed in a black golf T-shirt, brown trousers, yellow belt and orange Nike takkies had gunshot wounds on his rib cage, under the right armpit and on his back. A wrist watch and R200 in cash were found on him. There seemingly was no witness to the murder.

Another victim, aged 20, was confirmed dead at 3.30am on 5 November at the Alexandra Clinic where he was taken by relatives. Kodisang said the deceased had two stab wounds to his neck and was identified by his brothers as Nthandhazo Mbalo. The circumstances leading to his death were not specified.

A third victim, who was found lying next to 2nd Avenue at 5.50am on 5 November, was certified dead by Emergency Management Services. Kodisang said the 35-year-old deceased had stab wounds to his neck. He was identified by a friend as Lerwele Letuma. No witnesses came forward with information on the incident. His body was taken to the government mortuary in Hillbrow.
