Man arrested for child kidnap

ALEXANDRA – Man arrested for child kidnap.

An Alex man was arrested on a charge of attempted kidnap, theft of panties, and pointing a firearm at a four-year-old child, and also hitting her with it.

The known suspect will appear in court after the investigation has been completed.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson, Captain Allie Kodisang said the child was playing with her brother outside her home at 7pm on 24 October this year when the suspect allegedly snatched her at gunpoint.

The brother ran to his mother to tell her about it. She rushed outside and the suspect let the child go when he realised the mother had seen him.

When asked, the child told the mother that the missing panties had been taken by the suspect. She was tested at the Alexandra clinic and found not to have been raped. She was treated for head injuries and later released.
