SME hub comes to Randburg

JOBURG – A dynamic partnership between the Randburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Jozi SME Hub is set to transform the Northern Joburg community.

The Jozi SME Hub, which has two branches in Alexandra offering both start-up and seasoned entrepreneurs a one-stop shop where they can receive all the advice, funding application support and training they need to start or grow their businesses, will soon open another branch in Randburg.

Situated in the same offices as the Randburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), the new hub will result in a dynamic entrepreneurial hub that will provide entrepreneurs and SME owners with relevant resources and support they need to make their business dreams a reality.

The hubs are an entrepreneurial development programme located in the City of Joburg which drives the establishment of entrepreneurial development hubs across the city to cater for SME development.

The core of each Jozi SME Hub programme is administrated by The Business Place through its information centres, where clients are able to receive assistance in working out the next step in their business.

The hub has strategically created a multi-cluster concept that ensures there is a network of service providers, networking organisations and community-based organisations, tenanted under one roof.

With that said, RCCI members, as well as prospective new members within the business communities, can regularly attend the monthly City of Johannesburg Business Forum meeting, hosted in Braamfontein on the last Friday of each month.

This is where the foundation to facilitate this new and exciting innovation was laid. With time and persistence, on both sides, the initiative finally came to fruition in July this year, just as the RCCI was preparing to move to their new premises, which is still at 272 Atrium Terraces on Oak Avenue Randburg.

The RCCI and the Jozi SME Hub recognise that each client is unique, that each has its own learning style and that they’re at different stages of their business development.

Services offered at the hubs are:

  • Access to business opportunities
  • Relevant business information and resources
  • Referrals to quality business development service providers, government resources and financial institutions
  • Free internet access for business and idea generation
  • Business-to-business networking opportunities
  • Regular business information workshops on a wide range of business-related topics
  • Access to meeting and training rooms
  • Funding facilitation.

The Jozi SME Hub, serves as an ideal delivery platform for other initiatives, is open to engaging with interested programme partners who share a common purpose, to pool resources and expertise in order to improve the collective long-term sustainability and avoid duplication of efforts in various sectors.
