New City Manager appointed

JOBURG – New City Manager comes with wealth of experience.

The City of Johannesburg Council has snatched skills from the City of Tshwane. The council has approved the appointment of Dr Ndivhoniswani Lukhwareni, who is the current Deputy City Manager in the capital city as the new City Manager of the City of Johannesburg. Lukhwareni will start his official duties in January next year, as the contract of the current manager, Trevor Fowler only ends at the end of December.

Mayor Herman Mashaba has shared his confidence in Lukhwareni’s abilities to run the city well, adding that they will work together to stop corruption, fast track service delivery and stimulate job creation.

Mashaba also expressed his gratitude towards the outgoing manager, Fowler and thanked him for his support during the transition. “His support has been invaluable and I will forever be grateful for his professionalism.

Lukhwareni’s appointment was unopposed in council on 27 October. He is currently the Deputy City Manager of the City of Tshwane and has served in several strategic positions within the City of Tshwane since 2004. He holds a BSc Electrical Engineering from the University of Durban Westville, a Doctorate in Business Leadership from Unisa and a Competence in Municipal Finance Management Program form the University of Pretoria’s School of Public Management and Administration.
