Man with restraining order allegedly beats ex-girlfriend

ALEXANDRA – Man with restraining order allegedly assaults ex and damages her property.

An Alexandra man, who has a restraining order against him, was arrested for allegedly assaulting and maliciously damaging his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend’s property at her 18th Avenue home.

The incident occurred at 3pm on 15 October. Alexandra police spokesperson, Captain Allie Kodisang said the victim had been waiting for her sister outside her residence, when the suspect arrived in his motor vehicle. He allegedly tried to grab and force her into the car but she refused and ran away.

The suspect got out of the vehicle and followed her into the house, where it is claimed he grabbed, smacked and kicked her. Her aunt intervened and pushed him out, but he allegedly used an iron object to break the door to gain entry. It is said that after beating her again, he also broke her sister’s cellphone, which was in the house, as well as other household items all valued at R800.

The victim has a protection order against her ex for previous abuse and damage to her property. It wasn’t specified whether he has appeared in court.
