Drug addict receives 2-year prison sentence

ALEXANDRA – Confessed drug addict is nabbed during attempted house robbery.

Siphiwe Ndlovu, a self-confessed drug addict, was sentenced by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to two years in prison for attempted house robbery in Tsutsumani.

The 24-year-old was apprehended on 5 September by relatives of the homeowner, after the homeowner’s wife noticed the suspect allegedly forcing open a window and contacted her husband.

The husband then phoned his relatives in the township asking for help and they went to the house.

On arrival, the relatives apprehended the accused. Luckily a policeman was passing the house at the time and arrested the accused after being told of the attempted robbery.

When questioned, the suspect confessed to being on drugs and it was suspected that he wanted to steal items in the house to sell so he could buy drugs.
