Man assaults girl friend carrying baby

ALEXANDRA –- Man assaults and steals from girlfriend despite pleas from relatives.

An Alex man from 16th Avenue, known for ill-treating his girlfriend, was arrested and remanded in custody by the Alexandra police for assaulting her, taking her house keys and stealing R500 in cash.

Alex police spokesperson, Captain Allie Kodisang said the suspect was arrested on the night of 5 September. He was said to have met the victim on 17th Avenue and allegedly assaulted her after accusing her of not wanting to stop when he told her to do so.

He allegedly hit her on the foot with a rock inflicting an injury which later required treatment at the Alexandra Clinic. He then forced her to go with him to his place while continuing to assault her.

This, despite the victim’s father and siblings urging him to stop. The family claimed that the suspect had a history of assaulting the victim.

The investigation continues.
