Alex police are investigating the attempted rape of a nine-year-old girl, allegedly by a 17-year-old boy who both reside on the same premises but in different homes on 14th Avenue.
Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang confirmed the incident which allegedly occurred at the suspect’s home at about 8.20pm on 9 September. The victim came home crying and when her mother asked what was wrong she alleged that the suspect had pushed her onto a sofa and lay on top of her.
When she screamed and struggled, the suspect allegedly placed his hands on her mouth to muffle her screams. The girl said the boy wasn’t able to do anything more to her because they were both dressed and she managed to free herself.
She further alleged that the suspect once did a similar thing and tried to kiss her.
