Hijack at Alex hotspot

ALEXANDRA – Kempton Park motorist loses car at Alex's hijack hotspot.

Alexandra Police Station is investigating a case of motor vehicle hijacking and theft out of a motor vehicle which recently occurred at one of Alex’s notorious hijack hotspots.

Spokesperson for Alexandra Police Station, Captain Allie Kodisang said the incident occurred on the corner of Vincent Tshabalala Road and Lenin Drive in Tsutsumani at 11am on 7 September.

The victim, a motorist from Kempton Park, who was driving a Toyota Yaris, stopped at a red robot at the intersection. One of two suspects allegedly sprang from the side of the road and pointed a firearm at the victim and ordered him out of the vehicle, to which he complied.

The suspects got into the vehicle and allegedly drove away in it, along with the victim’s cellphone, laptop, driver’s license and bank cards. The incident was said to have happened quickly, leaving the victim stranded until members of the public assisted him in getting to the Alexandra Police Station to report the case. All items taken, including the vehicle, are valued at R105 000.
