ALEXANDRA – Truant worker assaults girlfriend with pair of scissors.

An Alex man is under investigation by the Alexandra police for an alleged assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The victim, his 34-year-old girlfriend, sustained an injury to the leg which required treatment for stab wounds allegedly inflicted by the suspect using a pair of scissors.

The suspect has not been arrested yet.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson, Captain Allie Kodisang said the victim reported that she went to the suspect’s home early on 5 September and found him asleep and smelling of alcohol when he was supposed to go to work. He told her that he didn’t have money for transport and also that he wanted to sleep.

She joined him in bed and set the alarm. The suspect allegedly became aggressive and assaulted the victim.

It is said he took her cellphone and smashed it, took out a knife and tried to stab her, but missed. The victim alleged that he kicked her in the stomach and accused her of being unable to bear children before stabbing her in the right leg with scissors.

The case continues.
