Male and female wanted for 2012 Midrand robbery

ALEXANDRA - Male and female suspects wanted for 2012 Midrand robbery.

A male suspect, who violated his parole conditions, and his female accomplice are wanted by police for a 2012 armed robbery at business premises in Noordwyk, Midrand.

Two of the suspects’ accomplices, one being a gardener at the robbed premises, is already serving a prison term, and the other is awaiting sentencing.

The wanted male suspect, said to have been armed, and the woman, who also worked at the business, were allegedly involved in the robbery where four cellphones were stolen from people who were also assaulted at the premises. Their attempt to open a safe was thwarted by police who were alerted to the incident.

The gang was said to have gained access via the gardener, who pretended not to know them. They attempted to escape when they heard police sirens outside but were nabbed as they fled on foot, together with the gardener. The wanted woman didn’t return to work the following day.

The gardener confessed in Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to being in cahoots with the robbers and was sentenced to 16 years. Another – who used his lawfully registered gun in the robbery – was sentenced to 18 years.

A third accused, who violated his bail conditions, was re-arrested in Polokwane in 2014 and awaits sentencing.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is requested to contact the Midrand police on 011 347 1600/1626.
