Caxton supports the SA Guide-Dogs Association

The South African Guide-Dogs Association surprised Caxton Joburg North staff with their adorable ‘trainee’ guide-puppies this past Monday.

The Caxton staff were educated on exactly how much goes into training these cute fellows on their journey to become heroes.

Some staff members were given the opportunity to experience the potential of these trained puppies as they were guided around Caxton grounds blindfolded.

They also learned that the cost to train one working dog partnership is in excess of R80 000. “The time, effort and expenses that go into training the dogs, paying the trainers and offering other services such as training the differently-abled on how to take care of themselves without the help of a dog to bathe, cook and dress themselves, does not come cheap. We also offer extensive training on cane usage and how to improve mobility with the use of one,” said Pieter van Niekerk, head of marketing at the South African Guide-Dogs Association

“This is why the association is hosting an event to raise more funds to train these dogs and make the lives of our challenged brothers and sisters more bearable.”

The South African Guide-Dogs Association appeals to all corporates to buy a table for 10 for R10 000 in support of the SA Guide-Dogs Association’s, Gift of Independence Party in the Ballroom @ Montecasino on 10 September 2016.

At the glamorous event, attendees can enjoy a three-course meal, entertainment by well-known performer Cat Simoni, party band Tokyo Groove and DJ Paul Almeida.

All funds raised will go towards the training of more guide dogs, service dogs and autism support dogs for the differently-abled

Each guest will receive a gift pack from Estee Lauder and be entered into a draw to win a four-night getaway to the Caledon Hotel and Spa.
