Public invited to participate in crime survey

ALEXANDRA - Police ask for public participation in new crime survey.

Alexandra police officers are inviting local residents to participate in a survey on crime prevention from 23 August to 2 September from 9am to 4pm each day.

Under the theme, Voice Up, Saps listens, the survey will be conducted door-to-door, at taxi ranks, shopping and community centres and other public places by police, safety patrollers, non-profit organisations and community development practitioners wearing tags featuring the police logo.

Alexandra Police Station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela requested for maximum public participation and said the success of fighting crime in Alex will result from the information participants share freely and without fear of intimidation and victimisation. The survey will require 10 minutes of each person’s time.

Maphakela also requested the public to inform the police of any sector and other meetings where the survey could be conducted.

Details: Alexandra Police Station 011 321 7600.
