Partner beaten over banking

ALEXANDRA – Business partners can't agree on their banking arrangement.

A man is under investigation by Alex police for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to his business partner.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said the partner allegedly beat the complainant in the face, causing a serious eye injury that required treatment.

The incident occurred after the two went to their bank at Pan Africa Mall at 3pm on 22 July but failed to agree on the banking arrangement they had gone to sort out. The complainant opted for a cheque account only and the suspect wanted the account linked to an ATM card.

They then left the bank, going in different directions towards their office in Alex. On 3rd Avenue, the suspect appeared from behind the complainant and asked him why he wanted only a cheque account. The suspect punched the complainant in the right eye when he told him that his decision was in the interest of their business.

The police investigation will determine if and when the matter will go to court.
