Suspects wanted for hijack of Simba Chips delivery vehicle

ALEXANDRA – Police are on the hunt for hijackers of a delivery truck in Alex.

Alex police officers are investigating a case of a vehicle hijacking and robbery of a Simba Chips delivery vehicle on 22 July on 10th Avenue in Alex.

No suspects have been arrested, but investigations are underway.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said staff in a Nissan bakkie were delivering Simba Chips to a shop mid-morning when four unknown suspects approached them from behind the vehicle.

Two of the suspects allegedly pointed firearms at the victims and demanded money. The victims allegedly told the suspects that the money was in a safe in the vehicle. The suspects then demanded the vehicle keys and allegedly forced the victims into the back of the vehicle, which they locked before driving away.

The suspects stopped at an unknown location, opened the back door of the vehicle and then the safe and stole R6 672 in cash, as well as the victims’ cellphones and packets of chips before abandoning the vehicle and the victims. The victims then drove the vehicle to the Alexandra Police Station and reported the incident.

No one was injured during the incident.
