Female suspect allegedly steals from taxi driver

ALEXANDRA – Female passenger suspected of theft of taxi driver's wallet.

A taxi driver laid a charge of theft at Alex Police Station against a woman passenger.

Alex Police Station’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said the incident happened at about 8.15am on 19 July.

The complainant, who claimed to have been alone at the time, alleged that he picked up the female suspect while travelling on Lenin Drive from Ext 7.

On the corner of Match and Football streets, he stopped the taxi to go buy airtime at a tuck shop.

Inside the cubbyhole was his wallet with R1 200 in cash, a driver’s licence and bank cards. He later dropped the suspect off at Alexandra High School after which he drove to Setswetla Informal Settlement for a car wash where he found the wallet missing.

The case is being investigated.
