Cash guard killed at PanAfrica Mall

ALEXANDRA - The police are investigating the killing of a cash-in-transit guard at Pan Africa Mall in the early morning of 5 June.

A witness said the guard was shot by one of an unknown number of robbers as he was walking from the shopping complex to his delivery vehicle in the parking lot. The witness said the robbers fled in a Toyota Quantum with a metal cash box that had emitted its staining substance at the scene.

The guard was certified dead by paramedics and transported to the government mortuary after forensic services and police had processed the scene.

Meanwhile, a news reporter who was at the scene said he was roughed up by the mall’s security guards for presumably wearing a cap similar in colour to the one worn by one of the robbers. The guards were said to have apologised to the reporter and his employers for the mistaken identity.
