Man in custody for murder

ALEXANDRA - Man remanded for the murder of person who once took him home

The Alex Magistrates’ Court remanded a 22-year-old Alex man in custody for the alleged murder of another man, who was known to the suspect, on 4 April.

The suspect will reappear in court after further investigation is completed.

Evidence presented in court showed that the deceased was stabbed in the chest and suffered head wounds said to have been from being headbutted and hit with a beer bottle.

The deceased who was with a friend was said to have talked to the accused on a street before they parted. Afterwards, the accused allegedly followed them and called the deceased aside. His friend later saw the accused headbutt the deceased and allegedly hit him on the head with a beer bottle. The accused was said to have left while the deceased seemingly went to his home where he reported being hit with a beer bottle to his parents. Before the victim’s parents could take him to the clinic for treatment, the deceased went out and was later found by his father lying in the street in a pool of blood from a chest wound.

The father took him to Alex Clinic where he later died. While there, the father overheard another man being treated telling nursing staff that he had been injured in a fight in the area where the father had picked up his child. Upon checking, the father recognised the man (accused) who the decesaed once brought home with him. It was said he admitted to stabbing the deceased with a knife but hadn’t been informed that he died.

The case continues.
